ABOUT THE ARTIST

At the age of 5, while summering in the family's lakeside home, the artist began painting and exhibiting in Saugatuck, Michigan under the instruction of Cora Bliss Taylor. At the age of 14, Jakara began attending OxBow in Saugatuck, Michigan. In the winters, Jakara continued her art education on the weekends at the Art Institute in Chicago as well as art classes through her highschool and, continued through College majoring in Art History and ongoing classes in style and technique. Working primarily in acrylic, oil, oil pastel, charcoal, water color and photography. Prices and additional information available upon request at the email address provided, jakaraart@yahoo.com. Amsterdam Whitney Gallery, a premier museum-forum gallery, in New York's art district, Chelsea, has invited Jakara Art to submit her portfolio for curatorial review with a long-term prospective of Gallery Representation. Owner, Executive Director Curator, Ruthie Tucker, M.A., reflects 36 years of consummate art world experience and highest academic expertise, including executive positions at the Guggenheim Museum, Phillips International Auction House, elite Madison Avenue Galleries and years as a pre-eminent New York Art Dealer. After reviewing the porfolio submitted, the curatorial board has extended an invitation to exhibit and represent Jakara Art.
